In Preparation for the TOEFL IBT Exam,
you’ll be given all the tools that you need to succeed on the TOEFL® iBT integrated-skills test. Along with strategies for note-taking, and tips and hints for each section of the exam, participants will be able to take advantage of pre- and post -tests, numerous practice exercises, mini tests and even complete exams.
This course is delivered online by teacher Kirk Adams, a 20-year veteran of TOEFL exam preparation.
This course includes practice for all four skills:
Reading provides practice exercises in the new test formats, including filling in a table or chart and paraphrasing.
Listening provides authentic conversations in an academic setting and academic lectures with new questions about a speaker’s attitude or purpose.
Speaking includes personal and expository tasks and integrated tasks.
Writing consists of writing and expository tasks.
By the end of this course, you can expect to be familiar with all sections of the exam and to perform respectably on all sections of the exam.
It is recommended that students prepare at least 30 hours for a TOEFL IBT exam. Nevertheless, some students will need 60 or more hours for proper preparation. Your teacher can make an appropriate recommendation after your first class session.

In Great Writing, intermediate to advanced students learn to improve their writing by studying the Cengage series of the same name -- Great Writing, by Ken Folse. This curriculum will be supplemented by quality material provided by Teacher Kirk Adams, a seasoned writing instructor with more than 20 years' experience.
The Great Writing course material focuses on writing sentences, paragraphs and essays. A student's level will be determined by a quick diagnostic evaluation given during the trial class.
The curriculum utilizes clear explanations and practical activities. Each book uses a variety of writing models in carefully chosen rhetorical styles. These models facilitate the practice necessary within the writing process to develop a polished piece of writing.
By the end of this course, students will demonstrate significant improvements in their writing and be able to employ a number of useful and effective writing techniques, whether it be in sentence writing, paragraph writing, or essay writing. In addition, students will be able to understand and use proofreader's marks and make the necessary corrections indicated by them.
Course participants will be assessed through class participation and writing assignments.

In Business English -- delivered online by teacher Kirk Adams -- students will receive the practical training they need to bridge the gap between the classroom and the world of work.

The World History Course for Middle School utilizes two texts: WORLD HISTORY Ancient Through Early Modern Times (McDougal-Littell) and selected texts from the acclaimed series The Story of the World (Susan Wise Bauer).
Selected videos are used generously to keep students engaged and significantly boost their comprehension, learning, and retention.
This is a 100-hour course (approximately one full school year) providing students with a survey of the significant political, socio-economic, and cultural features of human history from the beginnings of civilization to the contemporary period. Using both primary and secondary sources and document-based investigation, students trace the emergence of the interdependence between world regions — an interaction stimulated by European invasions and colonization and sustained by the contributions of the non-western regions.

In The Harry Potter course, students will learn listening, speaking, reading, and writing without ever casting a magic spell!
The first book is appropriate for advanced learners ages 9-12. After the first book, the level of English becomes gradually more difficult. (The later books in the series are aimed at high-school-aged students).
While reading comprehension will be the foundation of this course, curriculum can be customized to include more writing, speaking, or listening according to the students' wishes.
By the end of this course, students can expect to have advanced significantly in all four areas, with vast improvements in vocabulary, idioms, and understanding of sentence structure.
